Head takes Murray viral

Racket sport brand launches online film to give fans chance to interact with British number one during Wimbledon tournament

Head has posted a short film featuring Andy Murray on its Youtube channel and Facebook fan page that is designed to allow fans to interact with the player throughout the Wimbledon grass court tennis tournament.

The film, entitled ‘Get Closer’, depicts a fictional day in the life of Murray, from eating breakfast through training and bedtime, where he meets fans who give him a thumbs up while wearing giant ‘Like’ icons as popularised on social networking site Facebook.

Head Tennis said it is inviting Murray’s fans to watch the film at www.facebook.com/headtennis, where they themselves can ‘like’ the page to gain access to exclusive content, special prizes and the player’s tweets throughout Wimbledon and the preceding AEGON Championships at the Queen’s Club, which started today (June 6).

A Head Tennis spokesperson said: “In order to, symbolically, get really close to Andy fans can send their cheers and personalised messages to Andy via the Head Facebook page.

“He will then select his favourites, and these will be emblazoned on the tennis racket bag he takes out onto centre court during the tournament. On top of this Head will be running daily competitions for some special tennis equipment signed by Andy, including his Head YouTek Radical Pro racket.”

Murray said: “The viral was great fun to make and there are plenty of random characters that crop up throughout, I definitely haven’t had too many days like that.

“In the lead-up to and during Wimbledon it really means a lot to me to have support and encouragement, it makes a big difference on the court.”

Wimbledon runs from June 20 – July 3, weather depending, with Murray currently offered at odds of 6/1 to win the tournament by William Hill, behind Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer amd Novak Djokovic.
