New Balance, recently announced the acquisition of Gartner Sports, the brand’s distributor in Italy. The move allows New Balance to take direct control of a key European market.
Gartner Sports has been an exclusive New Balance distributor since 1996.This long-standing relationship with Gartner has helped New Balance establish a commanding position in the Italian market through the increasing popularity of the brand’s performance running and premium lifestyle products.
Commenting on the deal, Fran Allen, New Balance’s Vice President EMEA region, said: “The sealing of this agreement, between our two companies, stands as a significant landmark for New Balance as we look towards extending the brand’s reach and broadening its influence with active consumers across our European markets.”
In reply, Christian Gartner, Gartner’s CEO, stated: “We felt that this was the right time for us to forge a closer link with New Balance. Both our companies share the same spirit of enterprise and we were inspired by the vision of becoming a member of the New Balance family.”
