Swiss sports company On submitted its latest offering, the Cloudventure, to be trialled by a group of twenty sports journalists, bloggers and influencers at the atmospheric Petersham Nurseries in Richmond Park last month.
Split into three speed groups – gentle jog, pick up the pace and stride out – the Cloudventures acquitted themselves admirably for all users in a run up and down the scenic hills of Richmond Park. The Cloudventure line for the 2016 fall/winter collection is the first trail running shoe line from the award-winning Swiss brand.
Trying the shoes out, editor Bryony Andrews found that the show was both light and flexible, with great cushioning and a secure grip. According to the brand, the two-layer upper supports a fast ascent with a comfortable inner layer and a breathable, light outer layer. The micro-engineered Grip-Rubber profile provides ultimate traction in the most demanding conditions, and the intelligent CloudTec cushioning excels in the descent for an unparalleled downhill-ride. The new line features four models: the Cloudventure, the Cloudventure Midtop, the Cloudventure Shield and the Cloudventure Midtop Shield.
Following the run, attendees including Ben Allen, Australian pro triathlete and XTERRA World Champion, and his fiancée, Xterra triathlete Jacqui Slack, were invited to brunch and an informal presentation by On founder Casper Coppetti.
On shoes are now stocked in more than 2500 stores in 50 countries, Caspar reported, and is the fastest growing brand in the US. In the UK, the aim is to reach distribution through 100 specialty stores by the end of the year. The brand has enjoyed interest from UK runners, the running community and from media publications. Olly Laws, On’s UK sales manager, went on to speak of the importance to On of in-store customer service and its selective distribution strategy.
The new Cloudventure line will be available in retail from 20 June 2016.
