Polartec wins “Meryl Sport/Activewear Design Award”

Park Lane Hotel, nestled in London’s Green Park, played host to the great and the good from the world’s fashion industry last week.  With award-nominees coming from 24 countries, spanning five continents, the competition was tough.  It is therefore with great pleasure that Polartec is pleased to announce that it is now the proud owner of the Meryl Sport/Activewear Design Award presented at the fifth edition of the WGSN Global Fashion Awards.

The Award was a celebration of Polartec’s continued innovation.  Polartec prides itself on striving to be a constant source of game changing, category creating inventions.  The unique characteristics of Polartec materials allow their use in the production of a wide range of articles: from warm underwear to outerwear.

Polartec started as the original synthetic fleece and now offers a collection of over 300 different fabrics designed to keep you warm, dry and, most important, comfortable in a variety of outdoor activities.  Polartec fabrics range from extremely lightweight base layer fabrics for long underwear and T-shirts to waterproof breathable fabrics like NeoShell and flame resistant fabrics for the military.  Polartec fabrics are used by iconic outdoor brands such as Patagonia and Rab as well as key activewear brands such as Rapha Cycling, Sweaty Betty and Lululemon.

Allison Spahr, vice president of Global Design at Polartec said: “Being recognized and rewarded by such a widely respected global style institution like WGSN is praise indeed.  We work closely with our customers, constantly innovating; researching and developing solutions specific to their needs and it’s great to win an award in recognition of that.  WGSN is a leading force in the fashion industry, a portal of future trends and innovations.  We feel incredibly honored to be one of its award-winners.”
