Samurai to support Demelza

Sportswear brand to support children’s hospice charity for duration of 2011-2012 brochure; fundraising to start with The Spartan Race

Samurai Sportswear is to support Demelza, a charity providing hospice care for over 700 children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions and their families across East Sussex, Kent and South East London, for the duration of its 2011-2012 catalogue.

Samurai Sportswear will raise funds for and awareness of the work done by Demelza, starting with a 10-strong team taking part in The Spartan Race in Cambridge on July 24. The Spartan Race is three miles of mud and obstacles designed to test resilience, strength and stamina.

Samurai Sportswear managing director Terry Sands said: “The hospice centres do amazing work and are an invaluable resource for both families and children. The team at Samurai Sportswear are already thinking of lots of fun and exciting ways to help raise some of the necessary funds needed by Demelza.”

Demelza head of corporate and community income generation Natalie Tegg said: “Demelza are delighted to have been chosen by Samurai Sportswear as their charity of the year. We rely heavily on our support from the corporate sector and would like to thank Samurai Sportswear and look forward to working in partnership with them.”

Mark Thompson, field sales manager at Samurai Sportswear and team leader for the Samurai Warriors, said: “The Spartan Race is something out of the ordinary and a true test of the team that has come together to take part and the ideal way to help raise awareness and funds for Demelza.”
