Adidas has unveiled the TUNiT 2 football boot. It is the most technologically advanced boot ever made by adidas and builds on the success of the fully customizable TUNiT 1. The TNiT 2 boot (pronounced Tune-it) allows players to change their boots to suit their game, the pitch and the seasons.
The technology was introduced by adidas in the run-up to the World Cup and after consultation with players it has been modified and enhanced. The boot is now completely seamless, which allows for a better touch and the Velcro cover for the laces gives a greater ‘sweet spot’ for striking the ball. The boot is made from a performance synthetic called adiwave. Adiwave is soft, light and durable, so moulds perfectly to the shape of the foot. The styling on the boot has also been updated and looks sharper.
The boot is made up of three interchangeable components: the upper, the chassis and the studs. By mixing and matching the components the TUNiT can be transformed into a variety of different styles: a warm boot, a cool boot, a lightweight boot or a soft, hard or firm ground boot. The colours can also be changed according to mood! The TUNiT 2 was made available in December last year in three packs, the Start Pack, the Colour Pack and the Premium Pack:
The Start Pack includes: one pair of synthetic uppers, one pair of comfort chassis and three sets of studs (firm, hard and soft ground). The Start pack gives you three ways to assemble your shoe depending on the pitch conditions.
The Colour Pack includes: two pairs of uppers (one synthetic and one ClimaCool), one pair of comfort chassis and three sets of studs (firm, hard and soft ground). This offers six ways to build the boot.
The Premium Pack includes: three different pairs of uppers (two synthetic and one ClimaCool), two pairs of chassis (comfort and lightweight) and three sets of studs (firm, hard and soft ground). This offers 18 different configuration options. The Premium Pack is only available at selected outlets. The TUNiT is the flagship product in the F50 range of football products, clothing and accessories.
The adidas group of F50 players has been wearing TUNiT 2 since November 2006. This includes Jermain Defoe, Damien Duff, Arjen Robben, Djibril Cisse, Shaun Wright-Philips and Ashley Cole.
