Dunlop squash equipment has gone from strength to strength in recent years and the new 2007/8 - range of racquets delivers “another clear step change versus previous ranges” said the company. A major part of this step change is its new Aerogel construction, hailed as the next generation in racquet technology.
Used previously in the aerospace industry,Aerogel technology enhances performance. As what is believed to be the lightest solid in the world, with strength 4,000 times its own weight,Aerogel creates a three-dimensional nanometer-sized molecular network within the racquet frame. This delivers unmatched strength to weight ratio for enhanced stiffness and power, Dunlop told SGB UK.
The top four new, premium Dunlop squash rackets also feature M-Fil (multi-filament) technology which is positioned across the hitting zone to soften ball impact for optimum touch and feel.
The Aerogel Ultimate features a 137g-frame weight, a larger 500-sqcm head-size, plus a 16x19 string pattern. These specifications, combined with a striking yellow cosmetic, have created what’s already being posited as the best performing squash racquet Dunlop has ever made. Fittingly therefore, it will be used and endorsed by Amr Shabana, twice World Champion and World No.1 for the past 12 months.
Selected players within Dunlop’s Professional Tour Team meanwhile, will use the Aerogel Elite. A 500sqcm head-size, 140g frame weight and more traditional 14x19 string pattern serve to create a racket that provides ‘awesome’ power.
Both the Aerogel Tour and Aerogel Pro GT models feature a smaller 470sqcm head-size. Compared to the previous ‘Pro’ rackets, the Pro GT combines a lighter 137g- frame weight with a more headlight balance to deliver an optimum specification for advanced players. Consistent with all Aerogel rackets, it also features a long handle for additional touch and manoeuvrability, as well as a wider throat area for torsional stability. The Aerogel Pro GT replaces the previous M-Fil Pro as the Official Racquet of the Professional Squash Association and will therefore become the most used racquet on the professional world tour.As a result, the frame receives unparalleled exposure within the world of squash and in line with its predecessor, the M-fil Pro, is hotly tipped to be the world’s best selling advanced player frame.
There have also been significant steps forward within the mid and entry- level racquet ranges for the 2007/8 season. This level of innovation afforded by bringing a range of completely new product to market is viewed as essential to the buoyancy of the squash racquet market.
Additional areas of brand support can be seen in Dunlop’s title sponsorship of the British open, as well as its being the official racquet of the 2008 World Open and UK Nationals. By combining market-leading product with best available endorsements targeted to drive consumer demand, Dunlop offers the opportunity to maximise sales potential within the squash category.
The range will be available in stores from July onwards.
