ALLIES IN BUSINESS AND IN LIFE...
Veterans of the sports trade will have nostalgic memories of their annual autumnal visit to the trade shows in Bournemouth many years ago. The huge changes the trade has gone through brought about the demise of that event, however the wheel has turned full circle now that Allied Partners has re-established Bournemouth as a regular venue for not just an annual show, but for two of their three other seasonal shows throughout the year.
The 20th and 21st February saw Allied Partners’ 29 members, together with 31 suppliers congregate at the Carlton Hotel. The year’s three other shows are sports specific, however the February show is more generalised. It provides the group with the opportunity to look at potential new suppliers and their product ranges, together with some more established suppliers who are given the chance to show their latest products. The exhibitors represent a cross-section of suppliers from a range of product areas not covered in the specialist shows held later in the year. These include running, fitness, table tennis, swimming and archery.
The show is now in its sixth year and has already established itself as an important event for both sides of the trade. Allied Partners offers the buying power of a total of 54 shops with a turnover of £24 million, including some of the largest in the independent trade. They value highly their well -established relationships with suppliers. They realise that successful a business relationship must be a two way partnership and is able to offer its suppliers central delivery to their warehouse, central invoicing, or both.
Allied Partners would welcome new members who are strong, well -established independent sports retailers, particularly those with an emphasis on real sport. Interested parties are invited to contact group secretary Ian Watson on 01923 283356.
