Merrell has recently employed Ollie Hilton to take on the role of specialist event co-ordinator working in tandem with the marketing team. Ollie will be responsible for in store technical training and visual merchandising as well as the organisation of the many events which will be taking place throughout the year.
Ollie has an extremely impressive if somewhat unorthodox background. His first big trip aged 8 was to cycle across Europe covering a staggering 1500 miles his mother then wrote a book called ‘By bike to Budapest’. Four years later the family canoed across Europe making Ollie the youngest person to do this and totalling 1400 miles. ’ Drifting down the Danube’ was the title of the book his mother wrote documenting this second amazing adventure.
In 2001 Ollie and his father did the high Italian route round the Alps from Zermatt and it was this trip which gave Ollie his first insight into climbing and he has been addicted ever since.
Ollie fits extremely well into the Merrell culture of ‘Lets get outside’ and has already made quite an impact in all the different areas he is covering. Merrell prides itself on being innovative and forward thinking and this new position is further testimony to the company’s commitment to moving with the times.
