New Balance nets Runners World award
Runner’s World magazine has named the New Balance 1223 running shoe a “Best Update” award winner in its Fall 2007 Shoe Buyer’s Guide (September 2007). “The 1223 comes with better cushioning than its predecessor, thanks to a soft layer of foam over the midsole and a section of durable foam in the heel,” said the Runner’s World editors.
The 1223 is designed with innovative New Balance technology including a TS2 medial post, a Stability Web with an Extended Web for lightweight midfoot support, and Abzorb SBS cushioning for shock absorption. The 1223 also features a durable blown rubber outsole and Sure-Lace stay-tied laces for an uninterrupted run.
This combination of New Balance technology provides runners with the best balance of comfort, stability, durability, and cushioning possible. One tester commented, “A comfortable shoe with a good fit and excellent stability.”
The NB running team made improvements to the shoe over the 1222, reducing the weight of the shoe and incorporating Abzorb FL and Abzorb DTS cushioning and an Ortho-lite insert. Runner’s World commented on the revisions: “Our tests showed that the 1223 is lighter and more flexible than the 1222…Make no mistake, though, the 1223 still has plenty of support.” Also new to the 1223 is a Phantom Liner to reduce abrasion and discomfort, a Lightning Dry treatment for moisture management, and 360-degree reflectivity. The existing N-Lock system provides optimal fit, support, and security, while an Ndurance outsole offers durability in high wear areas. One tester noted: “A great shoe for bigger runners like me who need more stability and durability.”As with all in-line New Balance shoes, the 1223 is available in multiple widths and sizes.
