OTS 2007 triumphs
The Outdoor Trade Show (OTS) 2007 once again proved a great success by attracting just under 900 visitors over the three open days. Exhibitors were very pleased with the quality of retail buyers who visited the show and praised the location, for its ease of access and relaxed informal atmosphere.
Now in its second year OTS was once again a complete sell out, attracting 86 exhibitors showcasing a multitude of brands with a diverse range of products, ensuring there was something of interest for everyone.
2007 saw OTS visitor numbers rise by 40% from the previous year with a total of 888 unique visitors entering the hall over the three-day show period. The first day of the show proved the most popular with 422 people entering the doors of Hall 2, Stoneleigh Park. Success for STAG
This year’s Outdoor Trade Show marked another success for the STAG Buying Group. STAG exhibited for the first time, and as the recently appointed Official Buying Group for the Outdoor Trade Show at Stoneleigh Park, 3-5th October.
STAG’s origins lay in the Sports retail sector. “Outdoor retail was a natural crossover,” said Ward Robertson,“giving us a broader platform to ensure all our members’ interests are comprehensively met through our brands.” STAG has grown to represent over 400 independent retailers throughout the UK. Ward added: “We see our role to encourage brands commitment for independent retailers by creating a partnership that exceeds expectations”.
Exceeding expectations is something STAG has become increasing adept at doing. The Outdoor Trade Show saw STAG convert a number of new suppliers and up to 21 additional independent retailers. “It was superb to see the interest in our members from key suppliers and as always, very gratifying to see the interest from additional independent retailers”, said Ward Robertson. “Our work is clearly not yet done, but the ongoing interest and additional commitment from both sides of the buying fence shows us we’re definitely on the right track”.
STAG is quickly earning an enviable reputation across retail sectors, including Sport, Outdoors, Shoe and Equestrian. Said Ward,“the bottom line is that the buying power of our members secures commitment from brand suppliers that otherwise just couldn’t be there. Our job is to innovate, communicate and support to ensure that both suppliers and retailers are given every opportunity for competitive advantage. Whatever it takes,we’ll do it – we’re in this for the long term and that’s why a partnership such as this one with the Outdoor Trade Show is so important”.
