Hilly teams up with Bodyguard
Hilly, the leading UK running accessory brand has teamed up with BodyGuard Security, the country’s foremost personal alarm specialist, to test launch a range of personal alarms to runners, particularly women, through independent running specialists.
Commenting on the arrangement between the two companies, Graham Richards, Hilly’s Managing Director, said: “Personal safety is important for runners, whether they are training or just enjoying their routine jog, on the roads, in the parks or other open spaces, so this seems to be a real opportunity for retailers to profit from offering personal alarms as an add-on sale.”He continued: “Protection and safety, especially personal safety, can be an emotional issue which could trigger an impulse sale and that’s why, these alarms, with prominent positioning in-store, can prove to be a winner as a successful additional purchase.”
David Burston, BodyGuard Security’s Managing Director added: “With attacks on people figuring highly in crime statistics, people are becoming more and more conscious of protecting themselves, and women running alone, particularly with the evenings drawing in, can be vulnerable. Here we can learn from the American experience where most runners carry personal alarms as a matter of course, although evidence suggests it is now catching on in the UK.”
