Granger’s helps Nepalese porters
Proofing and aftercare experts Granger's is helping Nepalese porters and field workers to stay comfortable at altitude through an initiative set up with Community Action Nepal (CAN) and Community Action Treks (CAT).
A consignment of Granger’s footwear products has already been sent to Nepal for distribution amongst CAN and CAT staff.
“Talking with CAN we identified a problem with the footwear their staff use on the mountain”, says Brand Director Don Gladstone. “Often their footwear has to last a long time in very challenging conditions, so we’re helping make sure their feet are protected for longer. It’s these porters who make it possible for walkers and climbers to enjoy the Nepalese mountains, so the least we can do is make sure their equipment continues to be up to the job.”
Founded by Doug Scott, CAN is a charity that helps mountain people raise their standard of living and strengthen their communities. CAN and CAT ensure that the staff members are well clothed and have strong, protective footwear.
“We’re grateful to Granger’s for their considerable help and generosity as well-maintained equipment makes a considerable difference to our staff”, said Ruth Moore from CAN and CAT.
