Davydenko To Switch To New Prince Ozone Tour
Nikolay Davydenko, the hard-nosed, gritty Russian tennis player whose world ranking soared from 20 to 3 after making the switch to Prince O3 racquet technology, has his sights set on a new O3 frame, the Ozone Tour, which he expects to pick up following the Masters Cup.
In doing so, Davydenko will become the first to play the new Ozone Tour, the most recent tour-proven stick from the industry leader – and the newest addition to the Ozone Series which made its debut in July with the introduction of the Ozone One, Ozone Four and Ozone Seven.
On the women’s side, Daniela Hantuchova has already switched to the Ozone Seven, while both Jelena Jankovic (No3) and Marion Bartoli (No12) are transitioning to Ozone racquets following the Sony Ericsson Championships in November.
With the Ozone line, Prince has re-engineered the O3 hitting zone by infusing the O-Ports with Carbon Wave Matrix Construction, to provide players with an enhanced sweet spot and increased racquet stability – all while allowing them to continue to capitalise on the aerodynamic benefits O3 technology provides.
“I don’t know how Prince did it, but they took an awesome racquet and made it better – even more stable,” says Davydenko. “I love the way the ball feels off the racquet and the added control I get. Basically it allows me to still have great power, but do even more with the ball on each shot.”
In the UK, the Ozone Tour will be available in six models: the Ozone Tour OS, boasting a 107 sq ins/690 sq cm headsize; the Ozone Tour MP (100 sq ins/645 sq cm), the Ozone Tour MS (95 sq/ ins 613 sq cm), the Ozone Tour Lite MP (with 100 sq ins/645 sq cm headsize, but only 280 gm unstrung), the Ozone Pro Tour MP (100 sq ins/645 sq cm headsize but weighing 328 gm), and the Ozone Pro Tour Team (100 sq ins /645 sq cm and 310 gm).
With the addition of Ozone to the O3 line of racquets, Prince now has touring pros playing all four platforms of O3 technology: Original O3, O3 Hybrid, O3 Speedport, and Ozone.
Davydenko enjoyed a sensational year on the ATP Tour last year, winning titles in Poertschach, Sopot, New Haven, Moscow and the ATP Masters Series Paris - while this year he reached the semi-finals of both the French Open and US Open.
O3 was named the “hottest technology” by Tennis Magazine and has marked a new era in racquet design and performance to become a must-have racquet feature for players of all levels.
