Buying group STAG has created a new role within the company to better serve its growing membership – a Members Co-ordinator, starting December 2007. The position has been filled by an internal promotion, with Maureen Gilchrist rising to take on the challenge. Members will know Maureen as Mo, and welcome her appointment after two years in Credit Control for the Buying Group.

Managing Director Ricky Chandler said “We want to get feedback from our members and have provided a dedicated resource to facilitate this. We need to know where we’re doing well and more importantly where we could be doing better. This way, we can constantly evolve our service in keeping with our members' real wants and desires."

Maureen can be contacted at maureeng@stagbuyinggroup.com.

Meanwhile, STAG has signed up five more top brands to its portfolio, with ESPRIT, TrionZ, Rohnisch, Coolbrands and Alpina Scotland joining the fold.

ESPRIT, one of the world’s largest global brands, offers STAG members one of the most sought after and fashionable women’s sports collections on the market.

Rohnisch is a well-known Swedish specialist in women’s-only fitness and hold apparel, while TrionZ is one of the fastest growing companies in the sports and golf sectors, manufacturing ionic/magnetic products for people with active lifestyles. TrionZ took the US market by storm in 2006 and quickly became THE therapy product on the professional golf tours.

Cool Brands is a leader in the camping and leisure accessories for specialist Outdoor trades with such well known brands as HiGear, Kidcool, Canyon Cycling and Serious.

Alpina Scotland is the UK number one for sledges from top manufacturers with a specialist range of plastic and timber snow sledges for all age ranges including baby.

Complementing this news is the announcement of a further nine members for STAG. Managing Director Ward Robertson said: “It’s not just the buying power that encourages membership, although we are very pleased with our achievements in that area on behalf of members. Our new members get instant access to everything we provide from market advice and free advertising, to credit control help and more effective financial solutions.”

Among the nine new sign-ups is Wirral Sports in Liverpool, one of the UK's longest established sports shops. Wirral Sports' Candy and Dawn commented: “We have a great deal of pride in our brand and have worked hard to make our business successful. STAG gives us all the benefits of membership without sacrificing our autonomy.”

The recent STAG Show was also a huge success for exhibitors, as Maria Aries of Sunwise Sunglasses explained: “The number of visitors who came to our stand increased by 44%. This has brought in 25% more sales orders than last year.” You can read our review of the show on page 38.
