AMAZING WINMAU WORLD MASTERS
This years Winmau World Masters coverage was riveting with a televised 9-Dart 501 checkout from John Boy Walton, two maximum 170 checkouts from John Walton and Darryl Fitton, and a single dart average of thirty-one plus for the Men’s televised stage matches, and to top it all an unseeded 2007 Men’s Winmau World Master in Scotland’s Robert Thornton.
The Winmau World Masters always kicks off the darts crazy season and there is no better marketing tool than having your product placed at a major sporting World Championship like the Winmau World Masters, which was televised live by BBC sport. Viewing figures averaged at 1.2 million (11.8% share of the available audience) on Saturday, November 17th and peaked at 1.6 million (12.8% share of the audience).
What makes the Winmau Masters work on television are the player’s, characters, their uniqueness, their actions, and dogged competitiveness which was supported on Sunday November 18th where BBC-2 audiences averaged 1.5 million (10.4% share), and a peak of 1.9 million (10.2% share) for the superb final between Scotland’s Robert Thornton and England’s Darryl Fitton.
The next step on the televised Darts trail leads to the Lakeside World Professional in early January where we hope you’ll be watching.
