Import Services tees off with global golf brand Srixon
Major global golf brand Srixon Sports Europe has relocated its full European logistics operation to the UK from Belgium.
Srixon, a world leader in designing and manufacturing golf balls, golf equipment and accessories, has partnered with Southampton-based Import Services.
By moving logistics operations to the major south coast port, Import Services’ portcentric solution will shorten Srixon’s supply chain by five working days and improve cash flow by holding stock under bond until distributed throughout the UK and Europe.
“We wanted to streamline and enhance the visibility of our supply chain from production to customer and remove the complexity of inland distribution centres which had incurred unnecessary cost,” explained Julian Palmer, finance director at Srixon.
“To achieve this we selected Import Services, which has three distribution centres within shunting distance of Southampton container port; the first major container port of call for vessels carrying UK and north European cargo from the Far East .
“Our previous distribution centre was located in Antwerp , Belgium , but by working with Import Services, it is more cost effective to run our European logistics from the UK ,” added Julian.
An innovative logistics company, Import Services specialises in web enabled systems and skilled operations involving high volume pick/pack for the retail market. These services have been developed over 25 years serving the UK toy and gift industry and now Srixon are to benefit from this experience.
