The Ordnance Survey Outdoors Show is geared up and ready to open its doors between March 14th and 16th at the Birmingham NEC, with a wealth of exciting new exhibitors and features for everyone to explore.

Staged in three huge showcasing halls, 375 exhibitors and 25 exciting new feature areas will squeeze all they have to offer in the 31,000 m2 of space.

The 2008 show will be a hive of activity with organisers offering even more opportunities for visitors to ‘have a go'. The three halls guarantee some of the biggest and best outdoors brands and consumer titles and a new experience for everyone through the doors.

One exhilarating new feature set to send pulses racing and the adrenalin flowing will be the totally unique ‘Skymasters' climbing competition. Introduced into the UK for the very first time it brings together some of the world's most experienced climbers to pit their skills against the purpose-built wall.

The Outdoors Show also welcomes a wealth of names and personalities in the outdoor world to talk about their fascinating experiences and challenges.  Climbers, explorers and TV personalities such as Bear Grylls, Simon King, Johnny Kingdom and the three female presenters of the BBC's Ultimate Outdoors shows (Kate Silverton, Julia Bradbury and Kate Humble) will be gracing the World Theatre stage.

Ten of the top outdoor brands will be invited to wow the crowds with a cocktail of catwalks, showcases and explanations on their latest and most innovative gear.  Leading brands such as Nike ACG, Columbia and Berghaus will be taking part

Among the many ‘firsts for this year' will see the Rat Race Urban Adventure Series arrive in Birmingham, the epic City Centre race starting and ending at the NEC.

A hugely entertaining and physically demanding race will see competitors run, climb, abseil, cycle and kayak through the city's roads and waterways to reach target checkpoints. Competitors will start and finish at the show and will have no idea which daring activity they may face until they reach the destination!

The ‘piece de resistance', as far as the 2008 Outdoors Show is concerned, will be the Bike Arena, which is set to shift up an entertainment-gear this year. A brand new, purpose-built dirt track with a terrifying array of jumps and obstacles will only play host to dare devils with the mentality to tackle it - a spectacle for sure!
