Slazenger tennis rackets and balls for 2008
Slazenger chose the fashionable Chelsea Harbour Club to launch their 2008 Tennis Rackets and to introduce their latest signing - Naomi Cavaday. Robin Gibson, Slazenger's Head of Marketing remarked on her obvious talent and said that she was a rising star.
Whether or not she reaches the dizzy heights of the legendary Fred Perry, himself a Slazenger player, remains to be seen but certainly her performance knocking up with recently-retired Tim Henman was quite spectacular. Both went through the new range of Slazenger QUAD FLEX as to the manner born and gave a stunning display of hard-hitting long rallies. Henman has loyally stayed with the brand throughout his career and his achievements with it are a testament to its consistent regard for quality and innovation.
It would be an exaggeration to describe the new range as spectacular so far as looks are concerned. The range is likely to sell on performance and structure. The QUAD FLEX technology, so called because of the four flex zones made from a mix of carbon and a new rubber cell resin, assists in cushioning the ball on impact with the racket, increasing ‘dwell time' and, it is claimed, makes for better control and a reduced force up the arm, allowing through a trampoline effect, for a more powerful return. Henman was keen to explain the playing qualities of each model making it clear that he was not simply an endorsee of the name. Unlike many new rackets on the market, these rackets are most likely to sell if the seller has full product knowledge rather than relying on them ‘jumping off the shelf', and the range is sufficiently small for stockists to have a good knowledge of each of the four adult models (Henman uses the 305) and the 26" junior version. Good news, too, is that the grip sizes start at Grip 1 (4 1/8) up to 5 (4 5/8).
Once again the name Slazenger will be seen (and seen well, thanks to its ULTRA VIS -ibility.) flying across the nets in many clubs throughout the UK. Boasting the longest sponsorship association in history, it has been the Official Ball at the Wimbledon Championships since 1902, and the latest version, The Slazenger Wimbledon ULTRA VIS is approved by the ITF, USTA and FFT. Not only does it have the highest visibility, it now incorporates HYDROGUARD technology resulting in its covering repelling up to 70% more water than standard balls. Restaurants with too many items on their menu are often not able to compete on the quality of what they serve with those who do less but better. Have Slazenger chosen the right formula for this coming season? They may have the right recipe for some good serving in 2008. The balls and the rackets should soon be in the retailer's courts.
