A superb bit of kit which crosses over between sports and outdoor, this is a multi-tool with a slight twist; the Byrd Rench can be split in two, so each half can be used independently - great for dealing with a screw while gripping a nut, for example.
It's nicely designed and features storage for four bits in the grip which are easily swapped in the screwdriver end; there's also an adjustable spanner, slip-joint pliers, a knife with a good-size blade, a punch file (which doubles as part of the locking mechanism) and a clip so it can be carried in a pocket without getting lost. It's 4.5" long and weighs only 7.92 ounces.
During our trial is helped build a bed and spent some time in a bicycle emergency kit which was taken out mountain biking. It's got plenty of potential uses and is perfect for keeping around the house (so a whole tool box doesn't have to be lugged around, as when we put the bed together) or on your person.
RRP for the Byrd Rench is £56.99, and it's distributed by Edgar Brothers Leisure. Contact them on 01625 420220, email leisure@edgar-brothers.co.uk or check out www.ebleisure.co.uk
