Esc Outdoor has agree to distribute EverLite in the UK, and in an immediate boost the brand's EL8 Solar LED Headlamp was named a Backpacker 2008 Editor's Choice award winner.
The award is given in recognition of outstanding innovation in product design, materials and/or performance.
Given annually since 1993, the Backpacker Editors' Choice Awards honor the products that Backpacker editors have chosen as the best of the year based on months of trail testing by teams of highly experienced hikers and climbers. With no set categories for the awards and no set number of recipients, the products and the testing process drive the award categories.
EverLite's EL8 Solar LED Headlamp was one of only 17 innovative products that have been honored with a 2008 Backpacker Editors' Choice Award.
The EL8 Solar Headlamp has 5 LEDs, with 4 modes: High output, automatic (dusk to dawn operation via built in photocell), low output, and emergency blinking. There is also a battery check indicator which shows the relative strength of the batteries. 7 hours of sun fully charges the EL8, and the light will run 12-24 hours depending on the mode being used. In addition to using the EL8 as a headlamp, accessories (sold separately) allow the user to charge cell phones, ipods, PDAs, MP3 players directly from the headlamp.
