SGB Sports & Outdoors May
Summer certainly seems to have arrived this May, and with it the realisation for many of us that yes, really, there is a football tournament on and England are not participating. Of course, for many of us that will be replaced with the Olympic Games, held in a place where the humidity and pollution promise to be a great leveller. Whoever the favourites are for medals right now, I doubt they will be favourites on the day.
Assuming, of course, everyone turns up for what has also become quite a controversial Games. All of our favourite - and not-so-favourite for some - brands will be on show in the greatest sporting event on the planet. It will be fun to simply play 'spot the advert/endorsement' as the games progress, and as athletes who have worked their entire adult lives to be there push themselves beyond limits most of us can only imagine.
Despite the negative publicity, I can't help but get excited about the Olympic Games; hopefully, without a major football tournament (excepting the one that is part of the Games, obviously), it might encourage a few more people to get out and try new sports, something we could all benefit from.
And after that, in four years - it comes to London. Now that really will be cause for celebration, if the Government ever get their maths right...
