Timberland launches limited edition 'Tree Shirts'
Timberland has collaborated with three UK-based creative artists to create a collection of six limited edition t-shirts.
The guest artists are: Rob Ryan, a visual artist specialising in paper cutting and screen-printing whose work has featured in Vogue. Andrew Tomlinson, a graphic designer who has worked with leading brands including Paramount and Sony Ericsson. Valero Doval is an illustrator who has created work for clients including Kenzo, BHS and Orange. Each of the artists were selected for their use of nature as an inspiration for their art.
The three selected artists were invited by Timberland to create unique designs based on trees, nature and the natural environment. The brief requested the artists to gain inspiration from Timberland’s green brand values with a contemporary twist and tap into the brand’s attitude and relationship with the outdoors.
The limited edition “tree shirts” consist of six designs with each artist stamping their trademark style onto the t-shirts. Rob Ryan’s designs reference the environment, depicting leaves and twigs in a cut-out format. Andrew Tomlinson’s illustrations focus on a landscape and a tree and Valero Doval’s creations depict the inside of a tree trunk and a winged tree.
All are made from 100 per cent organic cotton made with eco dyes and printed using earthy tones. The entire collection will be in store from August 2008 and will be priced at £10 (wholesale). Stockists will include Timberland own retail store plus whole accounts such as House of Fraser.
