Outdoor enthusiasts can now send messages to mobile phones of friends, family and co-workers using the SPOT Satellite Messenger
SPOT customers in Western Europe can now send messages from their SPOT Satellite Messenger to a wireless mobile handset using short messaging service or SMS.
The SPOT Satellite Messenger, the world's first satellite messenger, sends the user's GPS location co-ordinates and customized messages to family, friends, co-workers or an emergency response centre over a satellite communications network. Users can designate up to ten email, or now, ten mobile phone SMS addresses to receive messages directly. SPOT's GPS location can also be visually tracked using web-based mapping programs such as Google Maps.
