Freeline Skates - the latest development in skateboarding technology - have been brought to the UK market by Serelo Sports. The skates have been previously sold online and via select and specialist outlets but are now being offered directly to retailers.

Tom Lenton, sales director of Serelo Sports, said: "Freeline is a brand-new concept for skaters in the UK. The skates are independent, but unlike skates and blades they are not attached the rider's feet - making them more like a skateboard.

"We know from the reaction that the skates had in the US they are going to be a big hit with kids, and the response we have had from exhibiting this summer at the NASS08 festival in Bath and the RipCurl Boardmasters in Newquay has been fantastic. We first launched the skates in June and already they are starting to make serious impact in the action sports/skating sector.

"We know from Freeline Sports International that the skates are of particular interest to eight - fourteen year olds. To help target this sector we are about to roll-out a school programme in September giving us direct access to kids across the country.

"We are confident that Freeline will be a big success here with people in the UK whether they're looking for the latest must have Christmas gift, the newest boy's toy or the next big thing in outdoor sports, Freeline Skates fit the bill."
