OPRO ups its profile
OPRO, creators of the OPROshield, the world's most advanced self-fit mouthguard, have upped their profile after recently supplying a set of their gumshields to Kent's Aylesford Bulls RFC juniors to try out.
A selection of their Under-9s were given the mouthguards to try, with great success, as coach Nigel Baker explained. "This age group is when the kids start playing 'contact' rugby - up to this age, they play 'tag rugby', with no contact. That means of course that they need to start looking at gumshields, and the OPRO self-fit system seems to have gone down very well.
"It's a self-moulding gumshield, but it's not like the traditional one. The average one that you might pay two or three pounds for, the fit around the top set of teeth is very loose, so they can't really speak with them in their mouth. The OPRO system fits snugly around the top of the teeth, so they can speak more freely and it's apparently a lot more comfortable."
So the mouthguards have proved a success with the age group? Indeed, says Baker. "They really like them. They'd all tried the loose ones, and they've found it to be better to use, they can talk properly with it in, and it's worked very well."
