Intersport UK appoints new GM
Intersport UK has appointed Barry Mellis as its new General Manager to replace Paul Nash who left the company in August. Mellis, who spent 19 years with adidas, joined in November from New Balance Athletic Shoes Ltd, the fifth largest sports brand globally, where he was Sales Director Europe.
Intersport UK members trade from more than 150 retail floors and Mellis will be responsible for further developing the Intersport brand throughout the UK and Ireland into an instantly recognisable and key destination for sporting goods and fashions.
Commenting on his new appointment, Mellis said: "I am delighted to join the largest sports retail group in the world and look forward very much to working with the Intersport members throughout the UK and Ireland. The Intersport brand has huge credibility and is the true sporting retail channel for the sports user worldwide."
