Welcome to a New Year...
Welcome to a New Year and hopefully one that is profitable, peaceful and packed with adventure for all.
I for one plan to get out and about far more, with trips already planned for myself and my family to the Lakes, Wales and a camping ‘expedition’ to the New Forest with my daughter. Camping, as detailed in last months issue, is a rapidly growing industry, particularly with the family market, which is why we are pleased to be able to offer ten free pairs of tickets to the National Boat, Camping and Outdoor Show next month (See page 3 for offer). So if New Years Resolutions are called upon, mine is to explore more of our beautiful country!
With thoughts of a New Year and the resolutions that perhaps follow, one we should consider as an industry is working together with the Outdoor Industries Association in order to provide a unified voice. After all, the Outdoor Industry has the potential to grow as adventure sports and multi-activity adventure holidays become ever more popular. And what better way with the support of an association, designed to help the independent remain profitable.
Events such as ispo, Soltex, Outdoorpreview and so forth will all be vying for our attention to attend over the coming months. And no wonder, the exhibitions are growing both in stature and relevance. ispo winter for example is going to be the biggest it has ever been and with a fantastic outdoor section, it is certainly worth a visit.
Staying on home ground, Outdoorpreview is also looking to be a worthy event, with the majority of the major brands returning to exhibit, the exhibition is promising to be an important date for the calendar.
Lets make 2006 one of the great years. Many expeditions are already planned and if as outdoor enthusiasts we can achieve these remarkable feats, then competition from the high street must surely be a mere hillock to climb!
Wishing you all and your families a very peaceful and prosperous New Year!
