AMG 'improves distribution'
AMG Group has taken the decision to outsource a significant part of their distribution function, to a third party logistics company.
Increased sales in 2008 put pressure on the supply chain which on occasion, had a negative impact on the service to AMG customers. The changes in the distribution system will significantly improve our overall supply chain and result in a notable increase in the companies service levels.
The changes involve moving 46 per cent of the outdoor goods distribution to a facility in England, which has resulted in three members of staff being made redundant, after a consultation process, one of whom opted for voluntary redundancy. The company will retain and operate two Distribution Centres in Port Glasgow, where significant investment has recently been made in a new fleet of mechanical handling equipment.
Meanwhile, the company has made a new appointment, with Deborah Findlay joining the marketing team as Marketing and PR Assistant across their outdoor brands.
