Sports HQ acquires Woodworm
The Sports HQ, one of Europe's leading online sports and leisure e-tailers has completed the purchase of Woodworm, the iconic cricket bat and golf company.
Woodworm's operations will be transferred from the company's current headquarters in Sussex to The Sports HQ's base at Alvechurch near Birmingham.
"We are constantly looking to purchase great sporting brands and are thrilled to have added a prestigious brand such as Woodworm," said Simon Millington, The Sports HQ‘s chief executive.
"As a company we are passionate about developing the finest products and with our expertise in cricket and golf we believe we can take Woodworm to the next level."
Current players using Woodworm equipment include Australia fast bowler Brett Lee and West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo but there already plans to recruit emerging England players.
"We would like to deal with players who are on the up and who are going to be the future of the game," Millington said.
