JJB invests £1m in staff training

JJB Sports has secured £1million of government funding to provide a bespoke customer service training package for over 600 store staff across the country.

The training programme will be delivered by an accredited training body and will be an intensive mix of workshops, presentations and assessments - all staff completing the programme will receive an NVQ Level Two.

Store staff will be the focus as JJB has been providing the intensive training to its management teams over the last 12 months as part of its ‘new era'. The aim now is to help develop those that are the face of the company and demonstrate that they have a future with the retailer. The training programme will teach invaluable skills such as understanding the customer, building customer relations and working as a team.

Commenting on the latest initiative, Phil Swaine, Associate Director of Retail Operations said: "Since Chris Ronnie came on board his passion for staff training and development has been clear and has filtered through the entire company.

"Investing in this is a big focus for us; we want staff - all staff from sales assistants to managers - to have a future with JJB and this latest initiative demonstrates our commitment to that goal."
