Terra Nova smashes own Guinness World Record
The New Year has seen Terra Nova off to a flying start, smashing its own Guinness World Record.
The company received official confirmation last week that its new Laser Competition is now the World’s Lightest Tent. The Laser Competition knocks a massive 210g off the weight of the Laserlite, the company’s previous record breaking tent. Derbyshire
Trading Standards confirmed the packed weight of the Laser Competition as 930g.
The minimum weight (flysheet, inner tent, pole and pegs) is a mere 851g. Although the company has trimmed the weight of the tent it has not been at the expense of space, the new model is exactly the same size as the Laserlite is has replaced.
Andy Utting, managing director of Terra Nova Equipment said, "This is a fantastic start to 2006 and our second Guinness World Record in 6 months. Our bi-polar strategy of developing product in answer to the trend for ever lighter gear, yet remaining committed to our traditional mountain business, has paid off. We now have tried, tested and certified truly lightweight tents. Yet again we have moved the boundaries in ultra-light tent development, with the first tent which has a packed weight under 1kg – less than a bag of sugar."
