JJB pays millions for Rangers Exclusive
JJB’s 439 outlets will be the exclusive retailer of Glasgow Rangers' merchandise in a newly signed official retail partnership.
Under the terms of the contract, JJB will design, develop, source and retail all Rangers merchandise throughout its network of stores within the UK. The contract promises the team a minimum of Ł48 million, with the potential of hitting as much as Ł80 million, depending on revenue targets reached. The 10-year deal guarantees the team a minimum of Ł3 million each year of the contract. The existing Rangers' stores will close other than the one at its stadium, with the funds used to draw down the team's debt.
In addition, JJB will perform the maintenance and order fulfillment of the Rangers' online retail site where Rangers product will continue to be sold. JJB Sports CEO Tom Knight said, "As a result of this agreement, JJB becomes the official partner of one of Europe's most prominent football club. We have similar agreements in place with Everton and igan Athletic, and such agreements provide exciting opportunities for us and nderline our position as the UK’s leading sports retailer.”
