Ultimate Outdoors, White Mountain, Outdoor World, High Peak and Camperlands took part in AMG’s first ever, two day training course for retailers in Snowdonia.

Led by AMG’s three full-time dedicated retailer trainers, Matt Graves, Hugh Scott and Euan Cormack along with product specialist Bob Ewen, the retailers who stock Vango and Force Ten were invited to take up a limited number of places to use AMG’s products out in the hills.

The purpose of the trip was to take retail staff out of their store to test the products from AMG’s Vango, Force Ten, Wayfayrer and Trangia brands and to experience using the equipment in differing weather conditions. Although places on the course were limited, this was to ensure that the time could be focused and the information provided at a personal level and in a manner that could be adapted to suit all learning methods.

Commenting, Matt Graves, retail trainer, AMG said, “This was a great opportunity for shop staff to get out onto the hills and test our products in trying conditions, but essentially to get to know the products better. For me experience in the field is the best learning tool and with the mixture of hands-on training, testing and product knowledge, I am confident each participant will have taken something valuable away from these two days.”

Agreeing, Alyson Fraser, Outdoor World, Bootle said, “I found the two days to be a really good learning tool. My knowledge of the products has improved significantly and I now feel more confident about discussing these with consumers in-store.”

“I found the training course to be really informative and enjoyable - a pleasure! The best training event going,” added James Swann, Ultimate Outdoors, Lancaster.

The National Training Centre at Plas-y- Brenin, Snowdonia is regarded as one of the UK’s leading outdoors training centres for climbing, mountain leadership, walking, canoe, kayaking and general adventure sport training and proved ideal for AMG’s requirements.

Following the success of the trip, AMG is currently planning further training trips in the summer, details are likely to be announced shortly. Retailers will be invited to attend who are deemed best suited to each differing course. To help support retailers further, AMG also provides in-store training, merchandising ideas and a full array of PoS on its entire product range.
