Retailer workshops go outdoors
Haglöfs introduced its series of retailer workshops earlier this year to great acclaim. According to a press statement, Haglöfs is extremely concerned that retail staff have as much product information as possible and believe that the best way for this to be gained is by using it ‘on the hill’, simulating the use that the products will ultimately be subjected to.
The technicality and width of Haglöfs product range demands a high level of product knowledge from the retail staff. Furthermore, with the consumer becoming increasingly more demanding the only way to ensure complete customer satisfaction is to make sure that they are sold the right product for their intended end use.
The first retailer workshop of 2006 was held in Scotland and the Lakes, product manager, Lennart Svensson, came all the way from Sweden to impart his extensive knowledge of hardware. "In one week we had all four seasons: sunshine, rain, snow, sleet and mist! Ideal conditions to find out whether what we claimed for our rucksack range was really the case!" says Andy Williams, Haglöfs UK sales manager "After an Informative session on the technicalities of the products, and in particular the fitting of rucksacks, we went
out onto the hill to put the theory to the test. We didn't loose anyone on the way, we ate mountains of butties and drank gallons of tea and you only have to look at some of the comments to see what the reactions were: 'Great day In the lakes which has resulted In sales of 2 Topo's, Ace and Ascent In the last 2 days. Looking forward to the next one!'
said James Bradshaw from Fell and Mountain." Planning is already underway for the next series of workshops which will be held in September.
