Adidas May Take IOC To Court
Following its High Court victory in getting a temporary injunction against the International Tennis Federation, Adidas will seek another court injunction, this time against the IOC over a ban on its three-stripe design.
The Court held that three stripes were a "design effect," rather than a logo. The actual case won't be heard until later this year. The ruling has led Adidas to believe it should challenge the IOC as well. The ITF had followed the lead of IOC in insisting the three-stripe panel down the legs and arms of apparel violated existing logo restrictions, which hold that logos should not be larger than two square centimeters. Rivals Nike and Puma have been on Adidas' case regarding the stripes, saying Adidas is getting a free ride while they must restrict the size of their logos.
