Asics kicks Scheck out of Amazon.de
Sport Scheck: Germany’s largest goods retailer had to remove all Asics shoes from their new online retail platform, Amazon.de after Asics threatened Scheck with legal action for violating their general terms of business which state
that selling over third platforms is prohibited.
Boards & More management changes
Three years after Swiss investment holding Airesis (Montreux) bought the
surf and snowboard multi Boards & More (among others F2, Fanatic, Mistral,
North Sails) from the Jacobs group they have announced management changes: Yves Marchand, who was instrumental in the deal, gives up his
position as CEO but remains an associate directors. CSO Johannes
Siferlinger who moved from from Oakley Germany last year has also departed.
Berghaus restructure in Europe
Gerhard Dobrunz, currently European Regional Manager for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, becomes responsible for entire continental Europe alongside Michael Lockett, who takes over the new created position as Operations Director. Brand President Lewis Grundy leaves the company.
Nordic walking-poles - Reebok stops production
Reebok is stopping the marketing of Nordic walking-poles under its own label. Instead, the supplier wants to concentrate on the range shoes and textiles for Nordic walking and aims in to establish a partnership with an established sticks supplier.
Hot Tuna heat up in Europe
After a break of five years, Hot Tuna has recently set up international headquarters in Great Britain and is now building up new distributions in Germany, Austria, and Croatia. The brand is controlled by CEO Chris Dewbury in London , previously with Quiksilver for ten years. European Sales Manager Geoffrey O’Connell joined from O’Neill - and Australian super-model Elle MacPherson bears the title Executive Director and will be promoting the brand as well as participating in product development.
Sports should give fresh impetus to Karstadt
In the first half-year, the Karstadt-department stores could reach a
3.2 % increase in turnover due to the positive effect of the
Soccer World Cup (Karstadt was official Fifa licensee) in the sporting goods
shops. Nevertheless, the turnover of the whole concern dropped 4.2 % down €6.47 billion. The result before taxes and depreciation decreased to
€-41.7 million (previous year: € +19.4 million) however
turnover in the sports segment increased in the second quarter around 6 %.
Express: Ebay starts a new selling portal
Some days ago, Ebay Germany has activated the new portal Express in order
to move away from its second-hand dealer image. Express is only for industrial
clients, and plenty of sporting goods are represented from the start.
