Fantastic start for EOG Association for Conservation
As an industry directly linked to the environment, the outdoor sector is only too aware of the pressure that the environment is under. The launch of the new EOG Association for Conservation during the OutDoor Show in Friedrichshafen, earlier this year, was a firm indication from the outdoor industry of its commitment to ensuring that we preserve and protect the outdoor environment for future generations.
New President of the EOG Association for Conservation, Hervé Chabert commented after the launch "I felt the launch of the EOG Association for Conservation went extremely well and was clearly well attended. The true success now lies in the number of companies becoming members. We have had a lot of companies saying they will join. This industry seems to be ready for such an initiative, so I'm very optimistic."
Signing up immediately after the launch Nike ACG’s General Manager, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Nigel Griffiths said that his reason for joining was simple, that companies within the outdoor sector could ill afford not to become members.
As the knowledge about the new Association grew, other new members joined Patagonia, Cascade Designs, The North Face, and the Mammut Sports Group to ensure the future success of the organisation. In quick succession behind Nike ACG were ispo, CamelBak, Haglöfs, Nikwax and Páramo.
Managing Director of both Nikwax and Páramo, Nick Brown is passionate about conservation and the environment. "I believe that the outdoor industry should have a special concern for the protection of the environment. The EOG Association for Conservation has the potential to harness that interest to communicate key environmental issues".
The EOG Association for Conservation is funded by membership and other fund raising activities within the outdoor industry. 100% of membership funds go to the support of projects. Membership is open to anyone that can demonstrate an involvement in the outdoor industry.
