SGB UK rushes to find out about Speedminton
Good news for sport enthusiasts. Concrete Leisure has now acquired the rights for Speedminton products in the UK. The company has a proven success record with its unique outdoor tennis tables.
Now this young dynamic company, which is a partnership of Ralf Ganza and Andrew Low, is becoming a service provider with workshops and free taster sessions of Speed Badminton available for schools and colleges in the UK.
In the north west of England, Concrete Leisure has established working relationships with organisations such as Sport Action Zone and the School Sport Partnerships, which will ensure that every school child can gain access to Speed Badminton in the future. Speedminton is going to be present in all major outdoor sport events this year, like the World Team Championships of Badminton and the White Air Festival.
Speed Badminton, the latest hype from Europe, is an outdoor version of badminton mixed with the best of tennis and squash claims Concrete Leisure. Rugged equipment made in Germany and a very simple set up make this the most accessible outdoor racquet sport around.
No net is required and the flimsy birdies have also evolved into “speeders”, which are more like little rockets, said to give the game a new dimension of playing.
Mainly an outdoor sport with the outlines similar to a tennis court, the playing zones are 5.5 m x 5.5 m (half the back of a tennis court) and they are 12.8m away from each other (that is the length of a tennis court). Then there are different ways of playing it; go for freestyle and just have endless fun with the fun speeder, or play real adrenalin pumped matches with the match speeder.
The so called “easy courts” can be pegged down with tent pegs in any park or at the beach for example, so you have your playing area there and then. In addition, every tennis court can be easily transformed into two Speed Badminton courts.
It can also be played any time, as there is even a night glowing speeder, so even in the dark you can still keep on playing.
Maria Sharapova enjoys the game. She is also a patron of Speed Badminton.
The game now has a partner in Cambridgeshire and Port Talbot in Wales.
In addition, there is already one firmly established Speedminton Club on the Wirral with 20 active members.
Since October last year Concrete Leisure has sold over 1000 racquets!
