The venue
Located in the heart of the UK, with air, rail and major road links just a few minutes away, in terms of facilities Cranmore Park really is an events venue like no other. This light, stylish and contemporary environment is situated over two levels and incorporates four flexible event spaces, purpose built restaurants, dedicated catering and support teams, a private reception and free on site car parking. The main showroom boasts a ground floor area of 2445m 2 with a private reception area and free parking.Upstairs, at 336m2 the Cranmore Suite is an adaptable space flooded with natural light and boasting a fulllength balcony.
Taking time out
The refreshment facilities here are also exceptional. The Dining Room is suitably located near to all of the exhibition areas, where the food is prepared freshly in-house by professional chefs. The Eating House meanwhile offers a variety of different seating styles from ‘café’ to the more traditional ‘table and chair’ approach. Or why not put your feet up in The Coffee Lounge – guaranteed comfort to help refuel your energy levels at any time during the day! Lunch and refreshments are also free of charge.
The brands believe in it
It’s a misconception that the bigger brands are only really interested in setting up accounts with the multiples. Becci Knowles spoke to a number of brands signed up to attend, all of which were quick to point out that the independent sports retailer was a vital part of its success…why else would they be there?
Andy Hewat head of field sales and priority accounts, Reebok, kicked off the debate: “I believe that the event will be a great opportunity for the sports trade to get together in a show format. This is something that we have not had for a great period of time and I am sure will be welcomed by both the retailers and the brands alike. The independent sports trade is very important to the Reebok business and we look forward to being a part of what will hopefully become a regular event.”
Charlie Brooks, head of corporate communications, Nike, added: “The National Independent Sports Trade Exhibition represents an excellent opportunity for Nike to work with the independents. The independent retailer forms a key part of our business. We are looking forward to taking an insight into the company and our products forward to independent retailers.”
Tom Kavanagh, national sales manager for UK & Ireland, PUMA, felt the same: "It's a great opportunity for the Independent retailer to view the PUMA ranges in the environment of a buying show."
Finally...
Steve Lee, UK sales manager, Nomis, summed it up perfectly: "The Nistex show represents an excellent opportunity for the independent retailer to visit and view product with all the key suppliers under one roof. Alongside the majors they will be able to see a number of suppliers whom they perhaps will not have seen, showing their products in a sales/show environment, which is not an opportunity that they will have very often during the year. From a brand perspective this show represents a fantastic opportunity to showcase to the independent trade, showing all product ranges.Nomis and Rugbytech will be able to show their full collection to all, an opportunity not often afforded in the retail environment.
As to expectations, we hope that the trade will embrace and back this venture and look forward to a successful day."
SGB UK champions the independent retailer and the team is proud to be involved: “The show represents an excellent opportunity for the independent retailer to forge closer links with a greater variety of brands. This can only be good for the industry,” said our very own Roger Bourne.
Retailers wishing to attend should email their details for the attention of Roger Bourne at SGUK@datateam.co.uk. A pre-registration ticket will then be sent.
The show will be open from 9.00am to 5pm.
