Wilson has combined four new exclusive technologies - the next generation of nano-technology with three original frame engineering innovations - to produce a range of [K]Factor rackets that are said to provide unprecedented levels of control for all types of tennis player, from Grand Slam champions to average club players. The new technology is credited with delivering up to 64% more control than standard rackets, while maintaining all of the traditional levels of power.
“The [K]Six.One Tour gives me incredible feel,” commented Federer on what [K]Factor does for his game.“With [K]Factor,Wilson has taken racket technology to a whole new level and I love what it does for the control of my game,” he added.
Serena Williams used a prototype [K]Factor racket to make a sensational comeback in Melbourne and win her third Australian Open title. Despite a long lay off from the game, she also managed to reduce her unforced error count at the same Slam event with the help of [K]Factor racket control from 21 in 2006 to 11 this year.
Federer played an integral role in the development and design of the new flagship [K]Six.One racket. For example, he suggested a longer base be incorporated in the racket design, called the [K]ompact Centre, which has the playing benefit of improved handling and greater feel.
Two other key benefits are extra strength and stability derived from the edgy [K]ontour Yoke configuration that enhances stiffness in key points and the control that comes from bridging graphite fibres at a nanoscopic level in a process that Wilson terms [K]arophite Black. For less advanced rackets in the range,Wilson has also added new [K]onnector technology, comprised of four external wings moulded on each side of the hoop that produce additional dwell time on the strings and a bigger sweetspot for more shot control.
Wilson, which has seen its rackets account for 60% of Grand Slam victories over the past decade, introduced four [K]Factor racket models in the UK in May, with recommended retail prices ranging from £120 to £170. The four models are the flagship [K] Six.One Tour, [K]Six.One 95, [K]Six.One Team and the [K]Six.One Lite.
