The RT. HON. Richard Caborn visited New Balance’s Factory in Flimby to mark 25 years of UK manufacturing. The Minister for Sport received a pair of personalised performance running shoes from Liam Burns,New Balance’s HR Manager at Flimby, after his tour of the factory. The name of the Minister’s department,DCMS, was embroidered on the tongue of the shoes.
The Minister’s visit marks the company’s significant milestone of 25 years of domestic manufacture this year, against the trend which has seen many of the performance running brand’s competitors moving production overseas.
The visit was of particular interest to Richard Caborn, who as a keen runner has competed in the London Marathon, the Great North Run and many 10ks and halfmarathons up and down the country.
