    The logo for the Olympics has caused quite some controversy, and it’s not hard to see why. A lot of public money has been spent on this confusing collection of shapes. Apparently it says something about democracy, yet despite the uproar a re-design seems to be out of the question.

    The RT. HON. Richard Caborn visited New Balance’s Factory in Flimby to mark 25 years of UK manufacturing. The Minister for Sport received a pair of personalised performance running shoes from Liam Burns,New Balance’s HR Manager at Flimby, after his tour of the factory. The name of the Minister’s department,DCMS, was embroidered on the tongue of the shoes.

Despite having travelled across the Atlantic from her previous race in Florida - and being taken down in the Lisbon race in a bike crash which involved half the field! - Michelle still managed a great World Cup podium finish.

  • Exclusive licensing contract signed

    The Italian sportswear company Lotto Sport Italia has appointed Planet Sports Inc. (PSI) as its exclusive licensee in the Philippines until 31 December 2011. The new licensing contract was announced last Friday at a media conference held at PSI’s flagship store in Manila.

    The product lines will include international models as well as a special collection specifically tailored for the Philippine market.

    Restructure: Mammut without Jürgen Schütte

    Mammut’s brand manager Jürgen Schütte is to leave the company in August after two years for personal reasons; the long-time K2-manager will return to Germany. According to CEO Rolf Schmid, the position of the brand manager will not be refilled. Schütte’s functions will be distributed to the two business unit directors Adrian Huber (clothing) and Carsten von Birckhahn (hardware).

    It’s actually just Simon reversed, named after Simon Skirrow designer and Nomis creator; his wife was talking to him and he had some titles, she was reading upside down and suggested it.Very simple but everyone asks what it means. It’s a great talking point especially its pronunciation, which incidentally is No-miss.

    Rainham Sports is a well-respected business. When was it established?

    The shop first opened its doors in 1981, changed owners in 1984 and then again in 2003. I've been working here as a manager for 10 years. I did start as a junior sales assistant in 86, before going off and perfecting my sales technique in other retail areas before coming back (I must be bonkers!).

    Inflammation, pain and swelling to the Achilles associated with difficulty in walking, should point the athlete to possible Achilles tendonitis. Often caused by overuse, tight calf muscles or a high tight heel counter in the trainer shoe, which irritates the Achilles tendon.
