I was thinking of something to write, looking back over a month of sport, and I've come up with just about nothing. Okay, so the new year honours have been handed out, and Eleanor Simmonds got her reward for those incredible Paralympian performance, among other worthy recipients. But February... It's a really dull month for sport, isn't it?

I was thinking of something to write, looking back over a month of sport, and I've come up with just about nothing. Okay, so the new year honours have been handed out, and Eleanor Simmonds got her reward for those incredible Paralympian performance, among other worthy recipients. But February... It's a really dull month for sport, isn't it? Athletes are gearing up for the indoor season, amateur runners are putting the miles in for their spring races; top flight football continues to inhabit a world of its own, and I do not mean that in a good way; the highlight of February so far has most certainly been the Six Nations tournament. I live on the border with Wales, and the rivalry here when games are televised between the two countries is excellent. Welsh people become even more Welsh, the accent becomes more pronounced; Welsh ancestry, previously unheard of, comes to the fore; and the English claim never to have liked rugby anyway as we cry into our beer.

Normal service is resumed.
