Staff at outdoor gear company Berghaus are mourning the loss of their colleague Lisa Marriner (née Smith), who died in February at the age of 37.

Lisa, from Newcastle upon Tyne, lost her long and courageous battle with cancer on February 12th and leaves a husband, Tim, along with close family and many friends and colleagues.

Lisa joined the international sales and marketing team at Berghaus in November 1998 and soon established her reputation as a committed and effective member of staff. Her intelligence, interpersonal skills and determination allowed her to thrive in a challenging role and she rose through the ranks to the position of international customer services manager. As Berghaus' global presence developed, Lisa's standing grew with it.

Lisa was a very popular member of the Berghaus family and in August 2002, she married fellow Pentland employee Tim Marriner. They were a devoted couple and Tim was a constant presence at Lisa's side throughout her illness. Lisa continued to work until January 2008 and led a very active life.

The thoughts of everyone at Berghaus are with Tim and the rest of Lisa's family.

Lisa's funeral was held recently and many who attended made donations to Cancer Research UK. If anyone would like to make a donation, Berghaus is collecting contributions which can be sent for the attention of Julie White, Berghaus, 12 Colima Avenue, Sunderland Enterprise Park, Sunderland, SR5 3XB.
