Editor's Comment - Outdoor April 2009
It's a long, slow job when you come on board any magazine as editor. Some editors make radical changes immediately, and sometimes it even works; some editors, myself included, prefer to feel their way and make changes as they go. Over the last few months there has been significant investment in SGB, as we've identified some things that need changing and improving. The sports side of the magazine has seen the bulk of this so far, but this year the onus is on building the SGB Outdoor side of the publication.
For this, I'd love to get some feedback from you, the readers. I'm focussed on delivering a magazine to our end reader, the independent retailer in the UK - so feedback from you on what you'd like to see in SGB in future would be hugely appreciated. It all helps us to deliver what you want and need in a magazine; if we're not giving you that, there's no good reason for us to exist and I enjoy my job far too much to give it up easily! Email me at jonbruford@yahoo.co.uk and share your thoughts.
Recently I had the pleasure of attending the OS Outdoor Show at the NEC outside Birmingham; if attendance there is anything to go by, the future of our industry is looking pretty good. There was great product on show, some brilliant entertainment to enjoy, and best of all, there were thousands of people who had travelled to enjoy it.
One last thing - the EOG Association for Conservation will be contributing regularly every other issue now, alternating with Barry Roberts' column. It gives them a chance to inform members and non-members on their wonderful work, and we're delighted to have the organisation on board.
