Editor's Comment - Sports April 2009
As I write this, the dust has barely settled on Chelsea and Liverpool's epic 4-4 Champions League draw. What a great advertisement for the sport the game was - for once, top-flight football actually looked like fun. Doesn't happen very often, so let's cherish that feeling...
I've also been involved in something very different, and all for a feature in this very magazine - I've been putting together a 'tech day' at my local sports retailer, and you'll be able to read about the results of my labours in the next issue. It's been a real eye-opener, but it's also been good fun and a challenge. The day itself is looming, and I must admit I am very nervous for a multitude of reasons. It was an ambitious idea, but if it comes off I'll have a blueprint of how to - or how NOT to - put on a spectacular tech day for your staff and customers.
One thing that has impressed me that's landed on the doormat in the last couple of weeks is the new ice pack from Salitas. Not a company I'm familiar with, but they've come up with something a bit special in their sexy new Morpho Cryo-Matrix, which they say stays colder for up to 12 times longer than what's available now. It feels like a load of joined-up ice cubes in a gel sac, but it's very flexible and molds nicely to any injured part of the body; my only criticism is that there's no elasticated strap to attach it to yourself, no soft sleeve like you get with traditional gel sacs. Minor criticism though, as it works rather well anyway. Worth checking out, I say - email sales@salitas.co.uk for more info.
That's my lot for this month. Time to go and chew my nails in anticipation of Sunday's tech day.
