Saucony signs up Brighton Marathon
Continuing its commitment to supporting running events throughout the world, Saucony has announced that it will be the Exclusive Shoe and Sportswear Partner for the Brighton Marathon. The inaugural Brighton event will take place on 18th April 2010 and the race is already filling fast.
Race organisers The Grounded Events Company aim to make the Brighton event the second largest marathon in the UK, and on the evidence so far, that goal looks set to be achieved in the very first year.
The Race Director is former British Olympian Tim Hutchings, who said: "It has been an amazing few weeks since launch and demand for entries via the race website has not abated since. Current expectations are that the event will be at capacity by the end of the summer and it's clear that the runners in the region have bought into the event already, with all 1000 Brighton Bond entries reserved for local residents being snapped up in the first eight hours."
The event takes place one week before the UK's largest 26 mile event, the London Marathon. This is a specific strategy by the event organisers, as over 100,000 runners are rejected from the London race. Brighton fully intends to be there to offer all those left disappointed, with an opportunity to utilise their energies in a different location, just 50 miles down the road on the UK's south coast.
