I saw something very strange recently, and it's something we'll be expanding on a lot in future issues of SGB. I was invited to a product launch in Newcastle, where I was introduced to Accapi. The room contained five or six reasonably cynical journalists, and every one of us left with a furrowed brow, minds ticking over what we'd just seen, and with a pair of Accapi socks tucked in our bags to try out.

The Accapi brand uses a fabric called Nexus, which incorporates titanium, platinum and aluminium to generate infra-red radiation and assist the body in healing, improving micro-circulation and thermal regulation. There are many other benefits too, it would seem - even pain relief, as I can personally attest to. I injured my foot playing football recently, and thought I'd try the socks out and see if they helped things clear up a bit faster. Well, I'd say they worked - but the most striking thing was a genuine (and immediate) drop in the level of discomfort of about two-thirds. It was utterly bizarre, totally inexplicable and a major surprise to me, despite having seen various things in the product demo/launch. I'm convinced this could be something very special for everyone in future when it comes to healing after injury or enhancing wellbeing and performance. It's not cheap - as you may have guessed, considering the materials involved - but my, it is effective. More on this next issue, when we'll put something a bit special together for you...

Enough of my burble. This issue, enjoy Tom Hutton and Steph Duits and their foray into the world of technical underwear, a look back at a very good OTS, and we find out more about Craghoppers' award-winning NosiLife, which we can look forward to seeing next year.

Enjoy the issue - as ever, criticisms and suggestions should be sent to jonbruford@yahoo.co.uk
