In the time I've been working on SGB - Sports and Outdoor, I've seen some superb gear. I was thinking, just before writing this, about many of the bits and pieces that have stood out for me both as an editor and a consumer. Gore's amazing running gear, for example, the jackets in particular; New Balance's running shoes from last year, among the best I've ever used; Skins and Linebreak's compression gear, which have helped with all kinds of aches and pains; Saucony's Hi-Viz range; Ronhill's continued excellence across the board; Brooks shoes which are consistently great, but also their outstanding apparel range; MIzuno's shoes, which were a wonderful surprise... There's a common bond through most of those - they're all related to running!

Non-running product has impressed too, of course. Opro's gumshields, Lotto's leather boot for juniors, Prostar's international football shirt for the Turks and Caicos islands, most things Canterbury, Speedo's suits, Aqua Sphere's goggles... There's a lot more besides, and to list everything thats stood out could take me all year.

The product that has impressed me the most, though, is probably X-Bionic, distributed in the UK by Ardblair. It's completely different to anything else I've seen and continues to impress with every use. They've converted me, I'll be an X-Bionic customer for life now.

That said, this will be my last issue at the helm of SGB - Sports and Outdoor; from November, I'll be focussing on the Outdoor side of things, and the Sports side will come under the new team of Robin Barwick and Paul Clapham. The new editorial team can be contacted on robin@barwickmedia.com and paul@paulclapham.co.uk.

It's been a blast, and I wish everyone involved in the ever-changing, vibrant sports industry a healthy happy future!
